No need for chest surgery when using the new pump (Photo: TTO) |
Researchers from Brunel University, England, have recently invented a heart pump that can be inserted into the body of a patient with cardiovascular disease without the need for chest surgery.
This new generation pump is tiny, measuring just 4mm in width and 10cm in length, operates without wires, and is powered by a small battery pack attached to the skin. Once inserted into the body, it helps the heart restore pressure and pump oxygenated blood to other organs, improving the circulation of the heart’s own muscles.
This pump helps extend the lives of patients suffering from severe heart disease. Specialists only need to make a small incision in the patient’s groin to insert this pump into the upper aorta.
This miraculous pump is expected to be widely available on the market soon.
