This is the non-refundable financial aid from the Danish government to Vietnam for pollution control in densely populated poor areas.
On the morning of June 8, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) along with the Embassy of Denmark held a workshop to launch the component “Pollution Control in Densely Populated Poor Areas” in Hanoi.
This component will utilize a demand-driven approach to enhance capacity at the central level and local pollution control agencies with the goal of maintaining environmental quality in densely populated poor regions.
Accordingly, the Danish government confirmed a non-refundable support of 65 million Danish Kroner (equivalent to 10.4 million USD) for this component to aid pollution control in Vietnam’s National Strategy for Environmental Protection.
According to Danish Ambassador Peter Lysholt Hansen, the component “Pollution Control in Densely Populated Poor Areas” has the potential to clean up several hotspots as the management capacity of the Departments of Natural Resources and Environment will be strengthened through the implementation of this component.
