Mr. Enomoto will travel to space aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, accompanied by a crew that includes American commander Miguel Lopez-Alegria and Russian flight engineer Mikhail Tyurin.
“Passenger” Enomoto will return to Earth after spending 10 days on the space station aboard the Soyuz with the crew currently working in space, which includes Russian commander Pavel Vinogradov and American flight engineer Jeff Williams.
Previously, three space tourists—Dennis Tito, Mark Shuttleworth, and Greg Olsen—have made trips to space, each costing at least $20 million.
Currently, billionaire software tycoon Charles Simonyi has registered to become the fifth space tourist visiting the space station, which orbits Earth at an altitude of approximately 350 km (220 miles). The timing for this journey has yet to be determined.
