Nielsen/NetRatings has recently published an interesting study revealing that the majority of Microsoft employees prefer using the search engine of competitor Google rather than their own MSN Search.
This study confirms that up to 80% of Microsoft employees consistently use Google Search as their primary information retrieval tool.
The trend of using competitor products is not limited to Microsoft; Yahoo employees are also part of this phenomenon. A remarkable 64% of Yahoo employees have opted for Google Search instead of relying on their own Yahoo Search, which is also highly regarded and superior to MSN Search.
Google employees are considered the most loyal to their company’s search products, with nearly 100% using Google Search as their official information retrieval tool.
Even among Microsoft product enthusiasts, there is a lack of enthusiasm for MSN Search. Among Microsoft product users, 66.3% regularly use Google Search for information retrieval; 10.2% use Yahoo Search, while only 19.6% remain loyal to MSN Search.
Currently, Google holds a commanding 50% share of the global search market, with Yahoo in second place at 22%, and Microsoft’s MSN trailing in third with just an 11% market share.
