According to a recent report by market research firm ComScore Networks, Google continues to dominate the search market in the United States for the past 10 consecutive months, while other competitors remain stagnant.
Google’s market share increased by 1% since April 2006, reaching 44.1%. In second place is Yahoo with 27.9%, followed by Microsoft MSN at 12.9%. The market shares of these two companies have remained unchanged without any shifts over the past few months.
In the search market, only Google has shown growth in market share over the past year, rising by 6.6% compared to the same period last year (June 2005), while Yahoo dropped by 2.2% and MSN declined by 2.3%.
In another report from ComScore Networks, Americans conducted approximately 7.4 billion search queries in May 2006 alone, an increase of 12% from the previous month. Although the social networking site MySpace.com made its debut last month, it has already secured the sixth position with a market share of 0.7%; while Google and Yahoo continue to dominate the search market with market shares of 49.1% and 46.2%, respectively.
