Recently, the French telecommunications provider Ozone announced plans to provide Wi-Fi coverage throughout the city by the end of 2007.
The deployment method and expansion of Ozone’s Wi-Fi network is highly efficient: all households that agree to install broadcasting poles on their rooftops will have access to free wireless internet.
At a speed limit of 64Kb/s, the access is completely free, while for a monthly subscription of 20 euros, users will receive prioritized internet access with speeds up to 4Mb/s and no data caps.
With the advantage of wireless connectivity, this pricing is extremely competitive compared to current internet access methods. The installation of broadcasting poles will begin next September.
This project is expected to provide many benefits not only for laptop users but also for those using digital devices integrated with Wi-Fi, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and MP3 players.
Ozone is committed to implementing security measures for users.
