Chinese Smartphone Manufacturer OnePlus has just unveiled a special edition of its latest budget flagship device, named OnePlus 11 Concept. The phone immediately attracted a lot of attention thanks to its striking blue lines running along the back cover.
What’s even more interesting is that these blue lines are not just an aesthetic detail; they also play a crucial role in cooling the device. According to OnePlus, this new cooling system is called Active CryoFlux. This system operates thanks to a pair of mini piezoelectric pumps connected to metal piping.
OnePlus is exploring new cooling hardware that can be integrated within the phone.
These pipes are situated between two membranes, and within the OnePlus 11 Concept, the mini piezoelectric pumps power a type of “cryogenic liquid” that moves through those blue channels, directing heat away from the chipset. The OnePlus 11 Concept is designed to automatically activate cooling mode when necessary, but users can also manually trigger it using the “Engineer” mode. When the cooling system is operational, the patterns on the back of the phone and around the camera module will light up.
OnePlus claims that the movement of the liquid through the blue channels will carry heat generated by the phone’s internal components outward. The overall setup of the product is not significantly different from other flagship Android phones, but instead of relying on a vapor chamber cooling system, OnePlus aims to utilize a liquid to handle the heat dissipation.
A major advantage of this advanced cooling system is that OnePlus does not have to struggle to create additional space inside the phone’s frame to accommodate a larger thermal management system. The Chinese manufacturer has stated that the piezoelectric pumps have been installed in a space of only 0.2 cubic centimeters.

The company also claims to have received over “30 patents for the liquid membrane” that is at the core of the Active CryoFlux cooling technology. Statistically, OnePlus notes that temperatures can drop by 2.1 degrees Celsius due to the CryoFlux system, which is equivalent to a 3-4 frames per second increase in mobile gaming performance.
Not only will this thermal management improvement benefit gaming, but it will also be advantageous in other scenarios such as high-resolution video recording. OnePlus has also promised to soon incorporate this new thermal management technology into commercially available smartphones.
