This species of flamboyant tree (photo) belongs to the Fabaceae family, like the royal poinciana, and is scientifically named Delonix regia. It is cultivated at Huyen Khong Ha Pagoda (Hương Hồ Commune, Hương Trà District, Huế).
The flowers typically bloom in the summer, similar to the red flamboyant, but they have a deep yellow color (distinct from the yellow silk tree). In 2001, the head monk of Phap Tong Pagoda obtained seeds from Myanmar. Over time, the golden flamboyant has grown well and adapted to the hot, dry climate. The Thừa Thiên – Huế Green Park Company has reported that they have experimented with propagating some seedlings but have not yet introduced them for large-scale planting.
