According to Mr. Ho Xuan Thien, the Director of the company, Basa Bio has the potential to replace diesel oil (DO) for all engines. Users can blend this oil with DO in any ratio and can switch from Basa Bio to DO if an additional fuel source is not found.
This is a clean fuel as tests indicate that compared to DO, the emissions of CO2, CO, and particulate matter are lower by 45% to 78.75%. Notably, Basa Bio contains no sulfur and has a taste similar to cooking oil.
One kilogram of fish fat can produce 1.13 liters of Basa Bio. The current selling price of Basa Bio is 7,000 VND per liter. AGIFISH CO is preparing to build a production facility with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year and is expected to commence mass production in early 2007.
It is known that many countries around the world have successfully produced clean fuel derived from vegetable oils, but Vietnam is the first country to succeed in using animal fat, such as Basa fish (which is a highly abundant resource).
