A man in the United States has awakened after nearly 20 years in a coma. This is Terry Wallis, who fell into a coma following a car accident in 1984 and woke up in June 2003. His case is currently being studied by doctors.

Terry Wallis and his mother – Mrs. Angille |
When Terry Wallis had his accident in 1984, doctors believed he had little chance of recovery as there had been virtually no progress after a long period in a vegetative state.
Nineteen years later, in June 2003, Terry Wallis suddenly awakened and called out for his mother, Mrs. Angille. Unaware that nearly 20 years had passed, he still thought that Ronald Reagan was the President of the United States. Since then, he has continued to recover well. To this day, doctors are still searching for answers to this extraordinary phenomenon.
Neurologist Nicholas Schiff stated: “This is a rare case. We have never encountered anything like this before.”
In the July 3rd issue of the Medical Research Journal, neurologists suggested that they have clear evidence that Wallis’s brain has healed itself by forming new neural connections. Nicholas Schiff pointed out that Wallis’s case opens new avenues for research into the recovery of damaged brains.
