Soc Trang Province has recently introduced a rice transplanter developed by the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology for field testing. The rice transplanter MC 08 weighs over 100 kg and can transplant 8 rows of rice simultaneously (with a spacing of 20 cm between rows and 14 cm between plants in a row), allowing one operator and four assistants to transplant approximately 1.5 hectares per day.

Mr. Nguyễn Thành Phước, head of the Long Phu Seed Farm (Soc Trang), stated that the rice transplanter not only helps farmers save on labor and fuel costs but is also relatively affordable (priced at over 20 million VND). Therefore, by offering the machine for hire across 60 hectares, the owner can quickly recover their investment.
