Due to their relatively large size, PPT files can run sluggishly on low-spec computers and are often difficult to send via email. Traditional compression methods like ZIP and RAR typically reduce the file size by only a few percentage points, which is negligible. However, NXPowerLite can compress PPT files by up to 15 times by reducing the “quality” of the graphics to a level that is virtually indistinguishable to the naked eye.
NXPowerLite is not a file compression tool like WinZip; instead, it is a specialized tool that intelligently reduces the graphic quality of PPT files. With NXPowerLite, while the graphic quality of a PPT file may be diminished, the difference in quality between an original 70MB file and a compressed version of just 7MB is hardly noticeable.
Using NXPowerLite is straightforward, thanks to its single-user interface. First, click the “Browser…” button to locate the PPT file you want to compress, then double-click it or select “Open” to display the file name and path in the “Browser…” field. The converted PPT file will be located in the same folder as the original, with a name identical to the old file but including “(NXPowerLite)” to distinguish between the two.
In the “Compression level” section, you can choose from four compression methods: Normal Compression, Extra Compression, High Quality Compression, and Custom Compression. Testing with a PPT file of 73MB showed that Normal Compression reduced the file to 5.3MB; Extra Compression brought it down to 5MB; and High Quality Compression reduced it to 7.4MB. For a more tailored approach, select “Custom Compression” to set your own compression ratio. If using the loosest compression method, the 73MB file will reduce to 9.3MB; opting for the tightest compression will shrink it to just 3.9MB, nearly a 19-fold reduction.
Based on our tests, we recommend users select the “High Quality Compression” method, as it can reduce file size by up to 10 times while maintaining image quality that is virtually identical to the original file.
