SenTAG Watch |
This is a type of wristwatch produced by SenTAG Company (UK), which not only tells the time but can also detect whether the user is submerged or floating on the water.
In addition to the standard timer like other digital watches, the SenTAG watch features a water pressure sensor to determine how deep the wearer is and an accelerometer to monitor their movements. When it detects increasing depth and time while the movement parameters decrease beyond permissible limits, SenTAG will send a radio signal to a central control unit located on shore and activate an alert to prompt the lifeguard to take timely action.
Immediately after that, the watch will activate a set of LED lights that flash continuously or release colored substances around to help the lifeguard quickly locate the victim. The SenTAG device is set to be widely available by the end of this year.
