Some information sources yesterday (July 11) indicated that Apple’s next-generation music player, the iPod, will “speak”.
The origin of all information about Apple’s “speaking” iPod is based on an analysis of the trademark application for this upcoming digital music player.
According to the report, Apple has applied for a patent for technology that will introduce a new feature in the next-generation iPod. This feature will completely eliminate the need for users to constantly look at the device’s display for necessary information. Instead, the new iPod will allow the device to provide audio notifications for the title of the song, album, and more that users are listening to.
Furthermore, the technology for which Apple is seeking a patent may also allow for changes in the “voice” characteristics of the iPod, such as the gender of the voice or audio quality.
However, we still cannot be certain or make any predictions at this point, as there has been no official information from Apple. We will have to wait until the manufacturer introduces the next-generation iPod.
But if this technology becomes a reality, Apple will have achieved something remarkable, allowing them to maintain their leading position in the personal handheld music player market, especially as Microsoft has begun to eye this lucrative market.
