Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer Confirms Future Revenue Opportunities from Windows Live
On July 11, during the Microsoft Global Partner Conference, CEO Steve Ballmer emphasized that revenue opportunities from Windows Live might not materialize in the coming years. However, the Live era is approaching rapidly.
Ballmer stated that new types of services and business models will certainly emerge soon, with Microsoft focusing on promoting the development of the “Windows Live initiative.”
This is what Ballmer refers to as the “Live Era.”
According to Ballmer, the Live wave will transform the types of products and services that Microsoft and its partners will offer to users in the decades to come.
He described the Live era as a time when everyone will use the Internet to reshape the software industry. The Live era will mark a significant transformation in the global information technology sector, which he emphasized would occur within the next 5 to 10 years.
Alongside his speech, Ballmer showcased several new Live services from Microsoft, with Dynamics Live CRM receiving the most approval from conference attendees. However, he provided very little information about other services like Windows Live Search Center and Windows Live OneView. Sources indicate that Microsoft plans to test these two services next month.
As of now, Microsoft has launched and committed to developing over 20 different Windows Live services, including Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Expo, along with three lines of Office Live services designed for the Microsoft Office suite. The upcoming year will also see the launch of the Dynamics CRM Live service.
“We won’t see the impact of Live in the coming years,” Ballmer asserted. “But now is the time for us to build the foundation and shape the business model for how we will work together in the future.”
Microsoft is committed to continuing the development of new Live services in various fields such as search, content, collaboration, communication, and business.
