Traditional medicine recognizes salt as having a cooling nature, non-toxic, with effects such as inducing vomiting, cooling, relieving constipation, and detoxifying. Here are some specific applications:
Dehydration from heatstroke: On hot days after sweating excessively, use 3 slices of fresh ginger, 5 grams of salt, and 5 grams of green tea, and brew to drink.
Bloating: If overeating meat causes bloating, brushing your teeth with salt and rinsing with warm water will help alleviate it.
Bleeding gums: Use ground salt to brush your teeth in the morning and evening; doing this continuously will yield results.
Abdominal pain from cold: Roast 250 grams of salt until hot, wrap it in a cloth and apply it to the abdomen. Each application should last 10 minutes, three times a day, to reduce pain and warm the abdomen.
Sore throat: Use whole salt grains to suck on, switching from one grain to another. Alternatively, crush garlic and mix it with saltwater to gargle repeatedly.
Reduce hair loss: When washing your hair, mix a little salt in the water.
Prevent and treat dermatitis: Use a little saltwater to wash your hands and feet (then rinse with clean water), which helps prevent dermatitis.
Joint pain: For those suffering from joint pain or arthritis due to dampness, use 1 kg of coarse salt, roast it hot, wrap it in a cloth, and apply locally once every evening for 30 minutes; repeat for 7 days as a treatment course.
Nosebleeds: Mix 5 grams of salt, 200 ml of vinegar, and 300 ml of cooled boiled water. Dissolve the salt in the water to drink, and after 3 minutes, drink the vinegar, repeating this twice daily for 7 days.
Hives: Use 40 grams of coarse salt, dissolved in 100 ml of hot water, at a temperature tolerable to the individual. First, cleanse the affected area, then use this saltwater for scrubbing, increasing the number of applications for greater effectiveness.
Headaches and runny nose: Chop 250 grams of green onions finely, mix with salt, and roast in a pan. Wrap it in a cloth and apply the warm pack to the forehead.
Watery eyes: Use a small amount of refined salt, dab it into the corner of the eye (near the bridge of the nose), then wash with cold water; repeat a few times for relief.
Reduce eye puffiness: Dissolve one tablespoon of salt in 600 ml of hot water, use cotton to soak in the saltwater, and apply it over the eyes to help reduce swelling.
Dry throat or hoarseness: Before speaking or singing, take a sip of light saltwater.
Cold-related flu: Crush fresh ginger, heat it with salt, place it in a cloth bag, and apply it to the forehead.
Piles and anal fissures: Use a bit of salt mixed with hot water for soaking.
Insect bites: Apply saltwater locally to reduce pain and swelling.
