On the morning of July 11, the National Primate Rescue Center (Cúc Phương National Park) successfully received and rescued a Gray-legged Langur (Pygathrix cinerea) handed over by residents of An Dũng commune (An Lão district – Bình Định).
In recent years, several rare langurs have appeared in the mountainous An Lão district of Bình Định province. However, this is the healthiest langur captured by the people of Bình Định and transferred to the center.
This Gray-legged Langur weighs 12 kilograms and is male, having been accidentally caught by some children who took it home. Local residents came to see the animal and realized it was a rare species listed in the Vietnam Red Book and internationally recognized. They voluntarily handed it over to the authorities.
