Pangeos is set to be the largest ship in the world, constructed by a consortium of wealthy investors from Saudi Arabia. It is also regarded as a piece of art, featuring a unique and modern design that captivates viewers.
Named after the supercontinent that existed over 200 million years ago during the Paleozoic Era, the Pangeos is anticipated to become a new “artificial wonder” of the Saudi elite.
Expected to be built in Saudi Arabia in 2023, upon completion, it will be the largest seafaring vessel ever constructed, resembling a vast floating city. Experts estimate that it will take up to 8 years and a budget of approximately 8 billion USD to finish.
“The floating city” Pangeos shaped like a sea turtle.
The project is reported to be designed by renowned Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini. With the concept of creating an actual living space within the floating city, it will resemble a massive floating metropolis equipped with all amenities, and spaces similar to those found in land-based cities, such as parks, retail centers, public transport, and even hotels and ports for small boats and aircraft to transport guests.
Upon completion, the sea turtle-shaped yacht will set a record as the largest floating superstructure ever built. This floating city is projected to be 550 meters long and 610 meters wide. The enormous area of Pangeos will make it three times larger than the Azzam, currently the largest yacht in the world.
Pangeos will become the largest yacht in the world upon completion.
With the goal of becoming the largest mega yacht in the world, Pangeos is estimated to accommodate a total of 60,000 guests, not including a large number of crew members and staff. In addition to hotels, the yacht will offer even more luxurious accommodation options, featuring up to 69 apartments and 19 luxury villas within the city.
Some of the apartments will boast stunning views of the central port area of the ship, while others will overlook the sea. There will also be hotels, shopping centers, and clubs to cater to even the most discerning guests.
To build Pangeos, the designers have chosen Saudi Arabia as the location. They will utilize approximately 1 square kilometer of sea area. Following this, they will dredge to construct a circular dam around it to create a construction space. Rather than operating from a specific port or having a predetermined itinerary, Pangeos will not follow a strict schedule, embodying the philosophy of turning the journey into the destination and is expected to become the ideal retreat for the ultra-wealthy.
