Suse Linux Interface |
The new version, SUSE Linux Professional 9.3, addresses many bugs found in previous releases and enhances various aspects of the interface.
Ronald W. Hovsepian, the new CEO of Novell, stated that Suse Linux will be key to bringing Novell back into the market. Novell plans to invest in the development of Linux products, ranging from desktop applications to high-end servers, including mainframes. All of these will be developed on a single platform.
This means that, with various measures, users can turn their “tiny” PCs into professional processing systems without changing the underlying software. In enterprise systems, research indicates that both server systems and workstations share a common platform, which naturally results in higher compatibility and seamless integration compared to a mixed system.
Currently, Suse holds approximately 20% of the market share among Linux users, following Red Hat, which dominates with 80% from Raleigh, N.C.
With the advancement of information technology and the increasing number of computer-savvy users, it is not surprising that users are willing to “try” using Linux.
Annual revenue growth for Novell’s Linux products is currently around 20%, while the market average is approximately 27%. The target audience for Linux products is the enterprise sector, where multi-platform network architecture incurs significant operational and management costs.
The “superstar” of the networking industry is gradually shining once again.
