The phenomenon of Mercury “retrograde,” also known as “Mercury in retrograde,” is currently occurring. Does it affect our lives?
According to CBS News, when we look up at the sky during this phase, it seems like Mercury is moving backward, but in reality, it is not.

Mercury, like Earth, has an elliptical orbit around the Sun. However, because it is situated between Earth and the Sun and moves faster, from our advantageous position, Mercury appears to change direction as it orbits around Earth.
The phenomenon of “Mercury in retrograde” occurs multiple times a year, including the final cycle of 2022, which began on December 28.
The question is, does this affect us?
In fact, many people tend to blame “Mercury in retrograde” when things in their lives do not go as they wish.
Explaining this, American astrologer Rebecca Gordon suggests that Mercury “rules” a crucial aspect of human life: communication.
“When Mercury moves forward, in its natural movement, communication tends to flow easily. When Mercury goes out of its natural orbit, such as during retrograde, a variety of cross-wires and misunderstandings tend to occur,” Gordon stated.
She advises that the key during these chaotic times is to tackle each task one at a time: “My advice is that if you do everything a little slower during Mercury’s retrograde, everything will be much easier.”
However, astrophysicist Dr. Jackie Flaherty completely disagrees that humans on Earth can be affected by the movements of Mercury.
“It is millions of kilometers away from us and is a very small rock; it will not affect you, your body, or your world. It is too far away. It does not exert gravitational force on your body,” Flaherty asserted.
She emphasized: whatever is happening in people’s lives, the responsibility and outcomes often depend on the individual.
