Currently, digital cameras can capture images with high resolution and vivid colors, but they consume quite a bit of storage space. Professional photographers often shoot in uncompressed RAW format, resulting in images that can sometimes exceed 10 MB in size. This can quickly fill up the buffer, at which point the SanDisk Extreme IV will assist users in swiftly transferring images to the memory card to continue shooting more.
However, fast memory cards can become useless without a compatible device to transfer images to a computer. SanDisk is preparing to launch two high-speed card readers that support Firewire and USB 2.0 connections.
The Extreme IV is priced at $160 for the 2 GB version and $640 for the 8 GB memory card. The Firewire card reader is available for $80, while the USB 2.0 reader is priced at $25.
