Messi’s Dorm Room at Qatar University Officially Transformed into a Mini Museum
Messi’s dorm room will become a mini museum.
The Qatar News Agency (QNA) has reported that Qatar University has decided to convert Lionel Messi’s room, where he stayed during the recent 2022 World Cup, into a mini museum. Specifically, they will not accommodate new tenants or allow students to move in. Instead, Qatar University will preserve everything left by the Argentine star and open it for fans to visit in the near future.
Al Hitmi, the Director of Communications and Public Relations at Qatar University, stated: “This small room will preserve, maintain, and display the memorabilia that Messi left during the recent World Cup 2022. It will serve as a legacy for future generations to learn from.”
During the 2022 World Cup, Messi had a solo stay in Room B-201 of the Qatar dormitory. Other members of the Argentine team had to share rooms, but Messi was given special treatment because his close friend, Sergio Aguero, had retired. Aguero only arrived in Qatar before the final match against France to stay with Messi.
Unlike other teams, Argentina chose to camp at Qatar University due to its spacious and comfortable campus, allowing them to host traditional barbecue parties after intense matches and feel at home. This decision clearly proved beneficial. Despite a shocking loss to Saudi Arabia in their opening match, Coach Lionel Scaloni and his team remained united and went on to claim the championship.
Messi himself won the World Cup Golden Ball with 7 goals, including a double in the final. In the future, Qatar has promised to invite Messi back to visit his old room.
