The continuous loud barking of a pack of dogs in a concentration camp can seriously harm the health of these animals.

In many animal shelters, dogs are often placed in cages next to each other in a large room. When they see other animals, they cannot settle down at all.
“Dogs are highly social creatures,” stated Crista Coppola from the University of Illinois, USA. “They want to be near other animals. When they see other dogs but cannot approach them, you will hear a lot of annoying back-and-forth barking.”
The noise level in each dog kennel can exceed that of a jackhammer – around 110 decibels – which can cause stress for the animals, leading to negative physiological responses.
The Occupational Health Organization indicates that noise levels exceeding 90 decibels can affect hearing. Experts suggest that dog kennels should be rearranged.
A new design places dogs in separate rooms surrounding a common play area. Each room has two doors: one leading to the play area and another for staff to enter the room.
“Two or more dogs will be allowed to play together at the same time. This is a great way to train dogs and provide them with the social interaction they need,” Coppola stated.
Another solution is to allow them to live together in a shared area. Dogs that live together tend to bark less, sleep more, and exhibit fewer abnormal behaviors.
