This morning (December 8), the opening ceremony of the International Defense Exhibition 2022 will take place at Gia Lam Airport (Hanoi), featuring the participation of 30 countries from around the world. This is the first time Vietnam has hosted this event.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 will be held from December 8 to 10, attracting over 170 units and enterprises from 30 countries across ASEAN, Asia, Europe, and America to showcase their exhibits. The exhibition will display and demonstrate combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, equipment used by naval, land, air defense, and cyber forces, as well as logistical and technical equipment.

The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 is seen as an opportunity to expand international cooperation in defense and foreign relations, building trust between Vietnam and countries worldwide; promoting and publicizing the capabilities and technological potential of weapons and equipment produced by Vietnam’s Defense Industry to international friends and the domestic public.
According to Major General Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Political Commissioner of the General Department of Defense Industry, the products displayed by Vietnam at the exhibition embody the most prominent characteristics of people’s war art. The Vietnam People’s Army has adopted and applied advanced technologies from around the world while also integrating and learning from practical experiences gained through various wars to develop suitable types of weapons and equipment.
Major General Le Xuan Sang – Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army stated that the purpose of the exhibition is not only to introduce and promote achievements in defense industry but also to showcase the cultural image and the people of Vietnam to international friends, and through this, to draw lessons and continue to organize larger and more effective international defense exhibitions in the future.

It is known that, according to the plan, during the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the Vietnam People’s Air Force will conduct a performance to welcome the exhibition. The performance will feature a flight team of helicopters and SU-30MK2 fighter jets flying at low altitudes over the skies of Hanoi. The 927th Regiment, 371st Division, Air Defense and Air Force Service has selected experienced pilots to train for the formation flights, highlighting the performance of the Su-30MK2 aircraft simultaneously releasing flares, ensuring precise coordination down to the second, combined with maneuvers that create the most visually stunning effects. The participation of the helicopter squadron from the “Mi” series will carry fluttering red flags with yellow stars against the backdrop of the Hanoi sky.
One of the challenging performances will be the formation flight of two helicopters, four helicopters arranged in a diamond shape combined with the fighter jet formation of the 927th Regiment. Colonel Bui Thien Thau, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Defense – Air Force Service, stated that all departments have prepared thoroughly to ensure that the welcome flight performance for the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition is both solemn and showcases the strength of the Air Defense and Air Force Service.
