Regarding China issuing the earliest cold wave warning in history, predicting that a large area of the country will experience an early chill with a significant drop in temperature, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong – Head of the Weather Forecasting Department at the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting stated that, based on observations from the meteorological map system, the cold air mass currently located in northern China is quite strong.

“It is forecasted that around October 9, this cold air mass will impact the northern mountainous region of our country, and subsequently affect the midland, lowland areas, and may also influence the North Central region. It is expected to cause a significant drop in temperature, with nighttime and early morning temperatures in the northern mountains possibly falling below 20 degrees Celsius. Additionally, it may also bring moderate to heavy rainfall in the North Central and Central regions, along with strong winds and rough seas in the northern and central areas of the East Sea,” Mr. Nguyen Van Huong informed.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, cold air masses have started to affect our country in October; the frequency and intensity of cold air are increasing, concentrating in the second half of October 2022.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, the continental high pressure will strengthen weakly again and will continue to intensify around October 9-10. A low-pressure trough in the south has a axis around 5-8 degrees North, gradually moving northward from around October 7-8.
At high altitudes, the subtropical high pressure is active with strong intensity, and around October 7-8, it tends to shift northward and extend westward.
Warnings for the Northern Region during the period from October 7-10 indicate scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain. From October 10-11, the mountainous areas will experience colder weather; the midland and lowland areas will turn cool.
Central Region: From the night of October 6-8, there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain; from the night of October 9-10, the North Central region is likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rainfall. From October 10-14, the Central region and the northern part of the South Central region are expected to have moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rainfall.
The Central Highlands and Southern Region: There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening, and localized heavy rain. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds.
