On the morning of October 5th, the Lê Văn Lương Underpass on Ring Road 3 was officially inaugurated and opened for one-way traffic.
At 7 AM, the Lê Văn Lương underpass on Ring Road 3, connecting Thanh Xuân and Nam Từ Liêm districts, was officially inaugurated and opened for traffic from Tố Hữu to Lê Văn Lương.
This route experiences heavy traffic, especially during peak hours. The opening of the underpass is expected to positively impact traffic congestion.
The underpass will alleviate traffic conflicts at the Lê Văn Lương – Ring Road 3 junction, particularly in the direction from Lê Văn Lương to Tố Hữu, thereby reducing congestion, waiting times, and environmental pollution in the urban area.
Many residents enjoyed observing the new road after it opened.
The underpass measures 475m in total length, with a 95m enclosed section; the open section, retaining walls, and curbs at both ends total 380m (190m on each side).
The cross-section design of the two-way underpass features a width of 7.75m for each lane, accommodating two lanes of motor vehicles, each 3.5m wide.
The project required the relocation of several underground utilities for electricity transmission and drainage.
The project included road widening on Tố Hữu and Lê Văn Lương, as well as improvements to the U-turn point on Khuất Duy Tiến road and the coordination of traffic flow at the intersection.
The project had a total investment of 698 billion VND and was completed over two years.
Construction faced significant challenges due to limited space, complex traffic organization, and the relocation of numerous underground utilities, compounded by the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Shortly after opening, traffic flow was quite heavy.
