The clip shows the cobra expanding its hood and raising its head close to the man who is caressing it, before turning away. From the visuals in the clip, it is evident that this snake is kept in captivity, not a wild specimen.
After being posted, the clip quickly went viral on Facebook and was shared across various social media platforms. Most viewers admitted to feeling a chill when looking into the eyes of the cobra.
However, many opinions suggest that this cobra may have been domesticated due to long-term captivity. This notion was challenged, as cold-blooded animals like snakes cannot be tamed in the same way as warm-blooded animals.
Meanwhile, some people speculated that the snake’s fangs may have been removed or that it had been drained of its venom, allowing the person filming to confidently caress it. Nevertheless, according to snake handling experts, by understanding the behavior of venomous snakes, it is entirely possible to handle them without fear of being bitten.
The king cobra is the largest venomous snake in the world, with an average length of 3 to 4 meters, and can even grow up to 6 meters. This venomous species primarily inhabits the rainforests and plains of India, southern China, and Southeast Asia.
Although the venom of the king cobra is not the most potent among venomous snakes, the amount of toxin they deliver in a single bite is enough to kill 20 adult humans or even an elephant.
