A “highly dangerous” python weighing 38 kg was discovered by neighbors as it slithered from a rooftop down to a window. The homeowner used a broom to scare it away, causing the massive snake to fall onto the street below. The incident occurred around 5:30 AM local time on August 25 near Southampton, England.
“I saw something on the roof and thought it was a plastic pipe. However, its head started to move… My dog was barking very loudly at that moment,” recounted 62-year-old Jenny Warwick, who witnessed the snake for the first time.
“I asked a neighbor outside if they saw anything on the roof because I wasn’t wearing my glasses and wasn’t sure. Then I realized it was a python and it was trying to find a way down,” Warwick added.
The homeowner then used a broom to chase the python, which caused it to land on a parked car below. The owner of the snake was contacted to retrieve their pet.

Evie Button, a wildlife expert, stated that snakes are “master escape artists” and will seize any opportunity to escape, such as when they see a gap in a door.
“Last year, we received over 1,200 calls about snakes, mostly during the summer months. Snakes are more active in hot weather. Therefore, we advise snake owners to be more cautious during this time,” Button shared.
Meanwhile, a resident in London was astonished to discover a giant snake skin on the banks of the River Thames. Jason Sandy spotted the skin, measuring over 1.5 meters in length, on August 8, near Hammersmith Bridge.
Some experts recently confirmed to The Mirror that this skin likely belonged to a Burmese python that had been abandoned or escaped from its owner.
This species is non-venomous, commonly found in Central and South America, and averages around 3 meters in length. According to National Geographic, the largest Burmese python ever recorded was nearly 5.5 meters long.
