The company “Kalashnikov” has introduced to the public the REX 1 rifle with the capability to take down unmanned aerial vehicles, jam signals, and suppress mobile and Wi-Fi networks. Interestingly, Kalashnikov will release both military and civilian versions.
Developers state that the weapon is multi-functional: civilians will use it to protect their personal privacy in daily life, while armed forces will utilize it at major events.
The REX 1 rifle is also equipped with an optical sight.
The rifle has a “range” of up to 2 kilometers, targeting drone robots operating in the air, on water, or underground. When shot by this rifle, even the most “stubborn” drone will have to obediently land or cease operations.
How Does It Work?
Similar to conventional infantry weapons, the REX 1 is equipped with an optical sight. This allows users to accurately aim at targets at a speed 2-3 times faster than normal. Additionally, the rifle has GPS and GLONASS jamming devices, a tactical grip, and other accessories such as a flashlight, laser targeting system, and audio/video recording capabilities. All these devices are designed to be easily replaceable in case of malfunction, ensuring operational effectiveness is not compromised.
On “drones” and against terrorism
This rifle also has GPS and GLONASS jamming devices.
In addition to countering unmanned aerial vehicles, the REX 1 rifle can jam GSM and Wi-Fi signals at 5.8 and 2.4 GHz bands. As a result, law enforcement officials can use the rifle to combat improvised explosive devices often activated remotely via mobile phones. The rifle allows for the disabling of all signals to devices, thereby preventing explosions from occurring.
Not long ago, the Russian Ministry of Defense also announced a model of a rifle designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles. Clearly, officials in the defense sector recognize this as a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
