In addition to imported flowers, a new type of imported fruit branch has recently appeared on the market, known as the stone pine. The stone pine comes in green, with some referring to it as silver stone pine and red stone pine.
At first glance, this stone pine fruit resembles the artichoke grown in Vietnam but is smaller in size.
Sharing with our reporter, Ms. Hoang Thanh Thao, a flower seller on Dai La Street (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi), stated that the stone pine is imported from China and has a unique appearance.
At first glance, this stone pine fruit resembles the artichoke grown in Vietnam but is smaller.
Notably, according to Ms. Thao, the stone pine can last from 15 to 30 days when arranged, making it a cost-effective option for flower enthusiasts at a price of 150,000 VND per bunch containing 3-4 branches. Each stone pine branch measures about 80cm to 1m in length and has many offshoots, allowing it to fill larger vases.
When arranging stone pine, Ms. Thao advises that since it is a woody stem, water should only be changed every 2-3 days, and all leaves submerged in water should be removed.
Each bunch of stone pine is sold on the market at a price ranging from 130,000 to 150,000 VND.
“Depending on the shipment, some stone pine branches are as thick as a thumb, while others are larger and resemble the fruit of the gourd. However, after arranging various types of flowers, the stone pine has attracted many flower enthusiasts who are interested in purchasing it for decoration. It has only been on sale for a few days, and while not many people know about it yet, the shop has already sold dozens of bunches,” Ms. Thao added.
In addition to the green stone pine branches, Ms. Thao also mentioned that there are red stone pine branches available, priced similarly, depending on individual color preferences.
The unique stone pine branch lasts a month when arranged and is very affordable, captivating many.
Also selling stone pine at the price of 135,000 VND per bunch, Ms. Thu Huong from Hoang Mai (Hanoi) noted that the stone pine initially resembles the artichoke cultivated domestically.
“Each fruit is round and small, like a quail egg, growing from the tip of each branch. Surrounding the stone pine fruit are small, pointed leaves that spread out like fingers ‘embracing’ the fruit. For those allergic to floral scents, this stone pine branch is a great choice as it has no fragrance,” Ms. Huong shared.
According to Ms. Huong, the leaves of the stone pine are green, and the fruit is also green with hints of silver, while the tip of the fruit reveals a pale purple color… quite striking.
“Stone pine is unlike any other fruit branches previously available on the market; each type of fruit branch has its own unique beauty, but with its durability and affordable price, the stone pine is worth trying out,” Ms. Huong stated.
