Video captures an amusing moment in England as a seagull freely enters a supermarket and steals food.
Seagulls can cause trouble for anyone they encounter due to their food-stealing behavior. They have gained a notorious reputation in coastal areas of England.
The seagull named Steven is well-known among locals as he frequently appears in the Paignton area of Devon, England.
However, this is the first time a moment has been recorded of a seagull breaking into a supermarket and stealing food.
The video captures the entire incident, showing the seagull waiting outside before the supermarket’s automatic doors opened. It quickly entered and headed straight for the shelf right by the entrance.
The seagull stole a bag of chips.
It grabbed a bag of chips, which supermarket staff noted is one of its favorite snacks. Liam Brown, who witnessed the event, quickly recorded a video as evidence and shared it on social media.
Liam Brown stated: “I saw the seagull pacing back and forth a few times. When I saw it jump in front of a car, I took out my phone to record. I guessed it was about to do something.”
Jenni Elliott, a regular shopper at the supermarket, shared that she had previously seen the seagull flying away with a bag of cookies, but she wasn’t sure if someone had given it to the bird or if it had taken it itself.
The seagull is so bold that locals in Paignton have nicknamed it after a Hollywood actor.
Seagulls range in size from medium to large, typically appearing in gray or white, with black spots on their heads and wings. Notably, they have long, strong beaks and webbed feet. They are generally docile but can become extremely aggressive when raising their young, attacking anyone who approaches.
Interestingly, Steven is not the only troublemaking seagull in the neighborhood. Another culprit named Cedric is often involved in supermarket thefts. Cedric is a more aggressive seagull that has been known to walk straight into supermarkets to steal items.
According to supermarket staff, Cedric prefers to steal toys rather than food. He often loiters around residential areas, teasing family pets and mocking stray animals without homes.
