Cuban Cockroach (also known as Green Banana Cockroach, Panchlora nivea) belongs to the Blaberidae family, and is commonly found in humid, warm areas such as Cuba, the Caribbean, and the Gulf Coast.
Unlike the brown cockroaches found in Vietnam, adult Cuban cockroaches have a bright green color. Their beautiful coloration has led many people to keep them as pets rather than viewing them as pests.

The Cuban cockroach typically measures 20-25mm in length, although some individuals can grow to twice that size. Females are generally larger than males. As nymphs, Cuban cockroaches are black and often burrow to find food.
With their strong wings, these cockroaches are capable fliers, transporting their 30-35 gram bodies to food sources. While they are not considered harmful, some populations of Cuban cockroaches are regarded as invasive species. They tend to invade areas in groups and reproduce at an alarming rate.
Although not aggressive, Cuban cockroaches emit a scent for defense. The substance they release is reminiscent of the odor produced by skunks, which can frighten or deter other animals.

Cuban cockroaches have a healthy diet, primarily consuming organic matter that contains sugar, with a preference for fruits. Not only do they eat cleanly, but they are also known for their polite behavior, as they do not reproduce indoors but prefer to live in deep forests or tree hollows.
In reality, the Cuban cockroach has an omnivorous diet. They seek out decaying or processed materials, consuming sweets or starches from leftover food, rotting fruits, or even scraps of paper. The nymphs of Cuban cockroaches forage for food by scavenging and burrowing.

Cuban cockroaches are not toxic; however, they can carry diseases such as Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, gastritis, and Salmonella bacteria. Due to their diet of decaying food, they also pose a risk of transmitting other illnesses.
Despite these drawbacks, Cuban cockroaches are favored by many people and have become pets for numerous households. Their healthy diet, polite lifestyle, non-harmful nature, and attractive appearance have earned them special affection, setting them apart from other cockroach species.
