Even Mr. Moorthy’s wife, who held the corpse for 2-3 hours in mourning, did not recognize that the deceased was not her husband.
This rare story unfolded in a family in Tamil Nadu, India, leaving those involved shocked and the public in utter disbelief due to details that seemed straight out of a movie.
On the morning of April 3rd, Mr. Moorthy, who lived in India, left home to go to Tirupur for sugarcane harvesting. Later, his son, Karthi, received a call from a relative informing him that Mr. Moorthy had suddenly passed away at the bus station.
Karthi hurried to the scene, confirmed that the body was indeed his father’s, and reported to the authorities to investigate the cause of death and arrange for the body to be taken home for the funeral.
Mr. Moorthy’s family performed the final rites and buried him that very night. His wife mourned deeply beside her husband’s body.
The situation would have remained unremarkable if, the very next day, April 4th, the entire family was astonished to see Mr. Moorthy casually walking through the door. Anyone in that situation would have thought they were seeing things or imagined that Mr. Moorthy’s spirit had returned.
Mr. Moorthy returned after his family had completed the burial, leaving everyone astonished.
“We couldn’t believe our eyes when our father walked into the house. The deceased looked exactly like my dad. I was shocked to hear that he had passed away, and I was equally shocked when he returned home,” said Karthi.
The son immediately reported the news to the police. The grave would be exhumed for authorities to accurately identify the body that had been buried.
Commenting on this bizarre incident, a representative from the Edore City Health Department stated: “We were truly surprised to discover many similarities between Mr. Moorthy and the deceased body. Several details on both bodies led the morgue to suspect they might be identical twins, but they are not.”
Even Mr. Moorthy’s wife, who had held the corpse for 2-3 hours in mourning, did not notice any differences.
