A completely white kangaroo unexpectedly appeared in Queensland, Australia, capturing the attention and curiosity of local residents.
Sarah Kinnon, a resident of Nogo, Queensland, reported that she captured images of the white kangaroo, standing out against the landscape.

“I was out with my family, we were releasing sheep back into the pasture when we were surprised to see a completely white kangaroo. It was hard to believe, I was shocked,” Sarah Kinnon said.
Sarah Kinnon shared that she had seen a similar white kangaroo near her home about six months ago, but she didn’t have her camera at the time to capture it.
When a creature with unusual pigmentation, such as white fur, appears in nature, it is often labeled as albino.
Paul Oliver, the vertebrate curator at the Queensland Museum, shared that experts believe this case may not be one of albinism. They are investigating whether the species is experiencing a pigmentation condition.
He stated: “Just looking at the photo, I see it has black eyes, so it’s very difficult to say for sure, but I don’t think it’s an albino kangaroo. If the animal were albino, its eyes would be pink.”
According to Paul Oliver, this animal resembles a white kangaroo that was discovered about six months ago. Creatures with such distinct coloration often struggle to survive in the wild.
Many are concerned that the kangaroo’s striking fur color poses a danger to its survival. Being so conspicuous among its peers, the white kangaroo is likely to attract predators.
Statistics from 2018 indicate that the number of white kangaroos appearing in western New South Wales is on the rise. Local residents report that white kangaroos sometimes appear in areas such as Wanaaring, Kinchega National Park, and Yunta.
