The term “trẻ trâu,” also known as “sửu nhi,” can be simply understood as referring to people who are reckless, love to show off, and insist that their opinions are the only correct ones while dismissing others as wrong. They are extremely stubborn and refuse to listen to anyone.
The word “trẻ” (child) here is not limited to age but rather describes behavior and personality, and it can also be applied to animals.
A fierce fight between two brown bears.
Alaska brown bears are part of the North American grizzly bear group (Ursus arctos horribilis) that inhabit the coastal regions of southern Alaska. When they reach optimal size, Kodiak bears can weigh up to 600 kg, three times heavier than Asian black bears. There have even been cases of giant bears weighing up to 680 kg. When standing upright, Kodiak bears can exceed 2.5 meters in height. The strength of this bear species lies in its powerful jaws and muscular limbs.
They typically hibernate for about seven months each year and lose a significant amount of body weight during that time. After their long sleep with empty stomachs, salmon migrating upstream to spawn become an important source of nutrition for the bears.
Based on their massive size, developed muscles, and tremendous strength, brown bears have virtually no natural enemies in North America.
Any unfortunate animal that encounters this bear in the wild or falls within its hunting range is unlikely to survive, except for their own kind, as shown in the clip below.
The “mutual destruction” battle between two giant brown bears was fortuitously captured by a tour operator at Katmai National Park, Alaska.
The trouble began when the carcass of a whale washed ashore the previous night. The lingering smell of food attracted local brown bears to enjoy a free feast.
Normally, such communal meals occur in a peaceful atmosphere where everyone enjoys their share. However, two male brown bears that arrived later seemed to find the situation too dull. From the moment they encountered each other, both displayed an attitude of mutual disdain, swaggering and thumping their chests to intimidate one another. The “show-off” standoff between the two “teenage” bears lasted about 20 minutes. During this time, several smaller brown bears took the opportunity to join the feast unnoticed.
At this point, one of the male brown bears seemed to tire of the “showing off” for everyone and stepped down to the riverbank to fill its empty stomach. Naturally, the remaining brown bear was viewed as the victor, which only fueled its arrogance, making it disregard everyone else.
Still strutting like a king, it approached a mother and her smaller cubs to instigate trouble. Despite the weak resistance from the less powerful bears, the aggressive brown bear became increasingly outrageous. “Annoyed” by this cowardly behavior, another nearby male brown bear rushed in to teach the arrogant bear a lesson.
After a pointless scuffle, the two bears decided to retreat peacefully to avoid escalating the situation.
The confrontation between the rival duo was extremely intense. Both brown bears acted like wrestlers trying their best to overpower each other. After a stalemate, they realized the “nonsense” of their fight and cautiously withdrew.
The filmmaker later learned a lesson when interacting with these brown bears: “When facing this massive creature, it’s best to remain still and motionless. If you must move, do everything slowly and deliberately. Any sudden or uncontrolled action can lead to extremely serious consequences.”
