Giant Pacific Octopus.
The Giant Pacific Octopus is one of the most bizarre and rare creatures in the world, possessing a massive membrane that can easily be mistaken for a giant moving blanket. This is also the reason why this species is called the Giant Pacific Octopus.
There is a record-breaking size difference between male and female Giant Pacific Octopuses. Females can weigh up to 10 kg, while males weigh only about 0.25 g. In terms of size, males are approximately 10,000 times smaller than females, and in some cases, even up to 40,000 times smaller.
Despite this, male octopuses are extremely aggressive when competing for mating rights. They fight fiercely and often aim to sever the spermatic arms of their rivals. After defeating and driving away all other males, the victor is granted access to the female.
This species of octopus has three hearts and a beak similar to that of a parrot. Their saliva contains venom, although it is not lethal. They have the ability to change color and skin texture quickly and easily.
However, only female octopuses possess this “cloak”. When feeling threatened, an octopus will deploy its blanket to distract or attack its enemy.
