The universe is 13.7 billion years old. The size and scale of the universe are beyond our imagination, if not infinite. In fact, scientists estimate that we can only detect about 4% of the stars and planets that exist in the universe.
There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on Earth. Our own galaxy alone contains about 300 billion stars. However, this is nothing compared to our nearest neighboring galaxy, Andromeda, which has over a trillion suns.
Each galaxy contains countless planets, comets, asteroids… and the list goes on. With so many stars and planets, it is certain that our planet cannot be the only habitable one. Just within our galaxy, scientists estimate there are about 8.8 billion Earth-sized planets that could potentially support life.
These planets are located in the habitable zone, known as Goldilocks Planets, where conditions are neither too hot nor too cold. This is where scientists are searching for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Perhaps one day they will find it.
