In a small village in India, 250 dogs have been systematically thrown from rooftops and treetops by a troop of monkeys in retaliation for the death of an infant monkey.
The villagers of Lavool, located in Beed district, Maharashtra, India, reported that the killings of the dogs began about a month ago when a few dogs killed a newborn monkey.
Since then, in revenge, whenever the monkeys spot any puppies in the village, they capture them and drag them to high places to throw them to the ground until they die, according to the New York Post.
Approximately 5,000 residents of Lavool have contacted the Forestry Department for assistance in dealing with the monkeys. However, when the authorities arrived, they were unable to catch a single monkey.
The villagers decided to take matters into their own hands to rescue the dogs. However, some individuals faced retaliation from the monkeys, even sustaining injuries or falling from buildings.

According to Stephanie Poindexter, an assistant professor at the University at Buffalo, USA, who studies primate behavior, monkeys are among the few animals capable of exhibiting vengeful behavior.
As reported by Newsweek, villagers have stated that there are now virtually no dogs left in the area, yet the troop of monkeys has not ceased its attacks after a month.
Currently, the monkeys are targeting children, causing widespread panic in the village.
