Dr. John Tang Ing Chinh, a gynecologist from Malaysia, has developed a new type of condom made from a transparent, high-elasticity film material that is also waterproof, suitable for use by all genders.

According to Reuters, Dr. John Tang Ing Chinh believes that his invention is the first unisex condom in the world, which he has named Wondaleaf.
This condom utilizes a transparent film material made from polyurethane, which has long been used for medical adhesive bandages. Dr. John Tang Ing Chinh hopes that the unisex condom will provide people with a more effective and convenient tool for managing reproductive health, regardless of gender.
Each box of Wondaleaf sold on the market contains 2 condoms and is expected to be priced at 14.99 ringgit (approximately 3.61 USD). This price is relatively high compared to the average price of 20-40 ringgit (4.8-9.6 USD) for a box of 12 condoms currently available in Malaysia.

According to Tang, the Wondaleaf condoms have undergone multiple rounds of clinical research and testing, and they will be available for purchase on the company’s website later this year.
“Based on the number of clinical trials we have conducted, I am completely optimistic that this condom will be a meaningful addition to existing contraceptive methods to prevent unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections,” said Tang.
