On the morning of July 5, in an interview with reporters, Mr. Lưu Minh Hải – Director of the Lao Cai Meteorological and Hydrological Station reported that heavy rain occurred in the province from last night and this morning (July 5). This particularly affected the city of Lao Cai.
Specifically, Mr. Hải noted that the rainfall measured in Lao Cai City at 7 AM was 117mm, which increased to 143.8mm by 10 AM. Many streets experienced severe flooding, particularly in Bắc Cường Ward (Lao Cai City), where water levels rose between 60cm to over 1m. Currently, there are no damage assessments available.
Many streets were severely flooded, causing traffic disruptions on roads such as Hoàng Quốc Việt, Trần Phú, Trần Hưng Đạo, and Lê Thanh.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from July 5 to July 8, there is a possibility of flooding along rivers and streams in the Northern mountainous region, with flood levels rising between 2-4 meters.
There is a high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous provinces and localized flooding in low-lying areas near rivers, particularly in the provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, and Tuyen Quang.
