In 1960, after 35 years as a colony, Cyprus gained independence from Britain, but it became divided following the Turkish invasion in 1974.
Since then, the island has been split into the Republic of Cyprus, inhabited by Greek Cypriots in the south, and a self-declared state known as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the north.

The Republic of Cyprus became a member of the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2004, and subsequently adopted the euro as its currency in 2008.
Currently, holders of the Cyprus passport can travel visa-free to 174 countries worldwide and enjoy the freedom to live, study, and work in the 27 EU member states.
What is the CIP Program?
The CIP program allows individuals from around the world to acquire citizenship in the Republic of Cyprus through a minimum investment of $2.5 million in various sectors, notably real estate.
Applicants for the Cyprus passport must prove that they have no criminal record. Those who have been investigated, prosecuted, or have a criminal history are prohibited from obtaining the Cyprus passport. Individuals sanctioned by the EU or third countries such as the United States, Russia, or Ukraine, or those who have worked for sanctioned organizations, are also not eligible to apply for the Cyprus passport.
