The prospect of injecting a hormone to extend life may soon become a reality, as a report has emerged about a hormone derived from the Klotho gene (named after the Greek goddess who is believed to extend life). This research was conducted on mice and published in the journal Science.
Professor Makoto Kuro-o from the University of Texas (USA), who leads the research team, stated that they have created genetically modified mice carrying high-activity versions of the Klotho gene. These mice exhibited a lifespan increase of over 20% compared to those with only the normal gene. The successful experiments on these mice provide scientists with hope regarding the potential of this hormone in humans, as the human body also possesses most of the analogous variants of the Klotho gene found in mice.
