At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Lao Cai Province plans to launch the trial operation of its electronic communication portal at http://www.laocai.gov.vn and implement an electronic trading platform at the Lao Cai international border gate.
According to the report from Lao Cai Province at the conference evaluating the results of implementing the information technology application program for the period 2001 – 2005, the province has invested in building several key projects, including the establishment of the Information Technology Center, the provincial data integration center; the construction of an Intranet/Internet system, and the deployment of various software programs such as the Lao Cai electronic information page and the Southwest China database.
Currently, the province has over 3,000 officials and civil servants trained in information technology under the programs and projects of both the Central and local government.
In the near future, the province will focus on organizing three specialized training courses on information technology for 480 officials and civil servants within the province and providing IT training and applications for local businesses, facilitating the establishment of an electronic government in the near future.
