Netscape Officially Announces Browser Distribution with HP and Compaq in 2006
Netscape has officially announced that its web browser will be bundled with all new desktop and laptop computers from HP and Compaq starting in early 2006.
The companies have agreed to sign a deal, making Netscape the default browser pre-installed on all HP and Compaq PCs.
Netscape will also customize its browser for HP and Compaq customers by adding user redirect tags to their websites.
Netscape version 8.0 is based on the Firefox source code, automatically adjusting security and privacy settings to help users browse the web more safely. The browser enhances compatibility and security by switching between the rendering engines used by Firefox and Internet Explorer. Netscape 8.0 also supports user-friendly browsing, incorporating tabbed browsing, RSS integration, improved privacy settings, multiple toolbars, and many other features.
