Radish, also known as la bốc, thái bao, tử tùng, white radish, or mộng bạch, is the root of the radish plant, a member of the mustard family. It has a cool nature, a bitter taste, and a slight sweetness. Radish serves to detoxify carcinogenic substances found in foods.
This type of root is beneficial for symptoms such as bloating, phlegm coughs, loss of voice, hemoptysis, nosebleeds, dysentery, headaches, mouth sores, and muscle spasms. Eating it raw can help prevent gallstones.
The main components include vitamin C, nicotinic acid, calcium, and sugars. Consuming it raw can aid digestion, quench thirst, and promote a sense of well-being.
Recently, numerous studies have shown that radish contains lignin, a synthetic substance that can enhance the activity of body cells, boost antibacterial properties, and fight cancer. Radish can also eliminate toxins that may cause cancer in food, earning it the title of a cancer-preventive food. Regular consumption is beneficial for health. It can be sliced, dried, and stored for later use.
Usage: Eat raw, cook, stir-fry, or grill. It can be used as medicine, in soups, as juice, or for external applications and nasal drops.
Precautions: People with weak digestive systems or poor digestion should avoid it. It should not be consumed with rehmannia, fallopia, or ginseng. Individuals with low energy should not use it alone but may combine it with ginger.
Remedies:
1- Overeating, excessive stomach acidity, sour vomiting, poor digestion: eat raw radish or fresh radish strips chilled. Consume an appropriate amount each time.
2- Vomiting:
- Clean the radish, crush it, cook with honey until soft, then eat.
- White radish: one piece, crush to extract juice, add brown sugar. Drink with boiled water.
3- Stomach pain: Crush white radish to extract juice. Add ginger water. Drink half a cup after each meal.
4- Intestinal inflammation, diarrhea: 50 grams of dried radish, decoct and drink. Two to three times a day.
5- Dysentery: a- 250 grams of radish, 30 grams of white sugar. Crush the radish to extract juice, add white sugar. Drink with boiled water. Twice a day; b- Radish juice: 60 ml, honey: 30 ml, ginger water: 15 g, strong tea: one cup. Mix well, heat, and drink. Two to three times a day.
