Viewing the Moon, Earth, or Mars directly on Google Maps is no longer a difficult task. This is not the first time Google has integrated an exciting feature into Maps, and it is certainly not correct to claim that Google is indifferent to space exploration.
Recently, the company has allowed users of the Maps service on PC to “fly” to the Moon and Mars with just a few clicks. Google Maps’ space feature enables users to explore Mars, the Moon, and other planets in the universe.
Below is an example of how to view the Moon map using Google Maps.
To explore the Moon and Mars on your computer, simply follow these steps:
- Visit the Google Maps website.
- Click on the double arrow icon pointing upwards in the lower right corner, then select Earth.
- Once the Earth image appears, zoom out as much as possible.
- Continue clicking on the arrow icon as in step 2, and you will see the option to view the Moon and Mars.

It is currently unclear whether Google will bring this new feature to the Earth app for Android. The Moon images were collected by the tech giant from NASA, USGS, JAXA, SELENE, etc., while the Mars images come from NASA and USGS.
Perhaps Google should consider renaming its Earth service, as Earth is no longer the only entity that users can explore.
