This is none other than Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area, located in Zhaoqing City (Guangdong), approximately 18 kilometers from the urban center, making it easily accessible for local residents looking to enjoy leisure activities.
Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area covers an area of 11.33 km2, encompassing more than 10 peaks. The summit of the main mountain rises over 1,000 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in the Pearl River Delta region.

Dinghu Mountain literally means “mountain with a lake on top.” Is it truly so?
This interpretation is widely accepted, as locals have passed down tales that a lake exists at the mountain’s summit, perpetually full throughout the four seasons.

Additionally, there is a story about the mountains in Dinghu connected to the legendary Emperor Huangdi (also known as the Yellow Emperor, a mythical sovereign and cultural hero in Chinese civilization, regarded as the ancestor of all Han people. The term “Huang” here signifies yellow, representing the Earth element).
According to legend, Emperor Huangdi once bestowed a three-legged bronze tripod upon this region, which is how Dinghu got its name.
Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area is the first national nature reserve in China. The ecological environment here is of high quality, featuring 2,000 acres of pristine forest, serving as a habitat for countless flora and fauna.
This area is also scientifically referred to as “Natural Air Purification Zone”.
There are thousands of plant species and a significant number of wildlife living here. As a result, Dinghu Mountain is nicknamed the “Living Natural Museum.” Moreover, due to the exceptional air quality, it is also known scientifically as the “Natural Air Purification Zone.”
A Scenic Area Associated with Buddhist Beliefs

Since the Tang Dynasty, Dinghu Mountain has been a famous Buddhist sanctuary in China. Every year, many pilgrims visit to tour and pay their respects.
During the reign of Emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty, the Kwan Yin Temple was established here. By the time of the Qing Dynasty, Kwan Yin Temple was recognized as the leading among the four famous temples in Lingnan and remains a notable site to explore within Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area.
Dinghu Mountain is favored by tourists due to its warm climate year-round. Summers are free from intense heat, while winters are significantly milder compared to other regions. This place is ideal for “escaping the heat in summer and avoiding the cold in winter.”
