The appearance of donkeys makes us think they are slow, foolish, and easy to bully. However, reality has proven the opposite.
Donkeys are herbivorous animals, but they possess a capricious temperament and remarkable endurance. This has led predators to pay a price for underestimating their seemingly sluggish appearance.
Choosing the wrong opponent, the hyena learns a lesson it won’t forget. (Video: Facebook).
In a video captured by a tourist at a farm on the outskirts, it is evident that the donkey is not at a disadvantage against its opponent, a hyena. On the contrary, it teaches this despised predator a memorable lesson.
The video begins with the hyena attempting to approach and bite the donkey’s tail to gain an advantage, thereby causing the prey to lose its initiative. However, the donkey quickly realizes this intent.
Using its height advantage and particularly its long snout, the donkey maneuvers to escape the control and then bites down hard on the hyena’s ear.
This bite causes the hyena pain, but it cannot escape as the donkey maintains a strong grip. With a shorter snout, the hyena has no way to reach its opponent and can only thrash around in desperation.
The resilience of the donkey excites viewers. Few believe that a herbivorous animal can be so powerful. It is even more surprising that the donkey’s opponent, the hyena, is one of the fiercest predators on the savannah. In some cases, hyenas can even intimidate cheetahs and lions.
Donkeys can herd sheep and protect livestock from outside predators.
Donkeys (Equus asinus) have long been animals that are often mocked for their unattractive appearance compared to the elegance of horses.
However, the contributions of donkeys to human life are, in fact, greater than those of their equine relatives.
While they may lack speed, donkeys possess incredible strength and endurance, enabling them to effectively transport goods, food, and even pull mills.
These donkeys also have another skill: protecting sheep from fierce wolves.
Initially, few believed this. However, in reality, when donkeys detect wolves or other predators, their instinct for self-defense is activated, transforming them from gentle herbivores into formidable attack machines.
Typically, donkeys will rush to attack their adversary with a series of kicks and then stomp on the enemy. A dangerous weapon of donkeys is their incredibly strong jaws. This allows them to clamp down tightly on their foe, causing them to lose initiative.
If attacked from behind, donkeys are also ready to deliver a powerful kick with their hind legs, capable of breaking the jaw of a predator foolish enough to stand within range.
