The video begins with the hyena attempting to approach and bite the donkey’s tail to gain an advantage, thereby causing the prey to lose its initiative. However, the donkey quickly realizes this intent.
Using its height advantage and particularly its long snout, the donkey maneuvers to escape the control and then bites down hard on the hyena’s ear.
This bite causes the hyena pain, but it cannot escape as the donkey maintains a strong grip. With a shorter snout, the hyena has no way to reach its opponent and can only thrash around in desperation.
The resilience of the donkey excites viewers. Few believe that a herbivorous animal can be so powerful. It is even more surprising that the donkey’s opponent, the hyena, is one of the fiercest predators on the savannah. In some cases, hyenas can even intimidate cheetahs and lions.
