High-Tech Simulation Video Shows Hurricane Milton’s Surge Could Submerge Everything.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center has stated that Milton poses a “life-threatening situation” for the western coast of Florida. One of the center’s experts, John Cangialosi, warned that Milton has the potential to become one of the most destructive storms ever recorded in west-central Florida.
The Weather Channel released a simulation video predicting massive waves that could occur in the Tampa Bay Area, where the hurricane is expected to generate record-high waves exceeding 9 feet (2.7 meters).
Using FloodFX simulation technology, meteorologist Stephanie Abrams from The Weather Channel illustrated what a 2.7-meter surge would look like.

Hurricane Milton is expected to bring a devastating wave surge to the western Florida coastline.
Many users on X described the simulation video as “terrifying,” with some urging local residents to evacuate if they have not yet done so.
“The flood simulation shows how high the storm surge from Hurricane Milton could get. This is a warning for you to leave if you haven’t already,” wrote one user.
Another user noted: “This image still shows still water, not moving. The surge of 9 feet (2.7 meters) means the water will rise with force, so the reality will be even more devastating.”
