Yesterday, in Hanoi, representatives from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Culture and Information, and the Ministry of Public Security held a meeting to report on the development of online gaming in Vietnam to Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem. Representatives from these ministries acknowledged that the biggest shortcoming currently is that management efforts have not kept pace with technological advancements and their accompanying applications, including online games. However, online gaming is a legitimate form of entertainment for the public, so the Government will enhance management efforts to ensure it does not negatively impact the youth and societal development.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem instructed the three ministries to establish specific regulations regarding online gaming as well as the necessary licenses that businesses need to obtain when offering these services. This initiative is expected to be completed by December.
